An Ex Certificate of Conformity is an important technical document proving that a product complies with national Ex standards. A complete Ex Certificate of Conformity usually includes the following core parts, which STS will explain from four aspects.

1. Basic Information of Certificate and Product

This part is the "identity information" of the certificate, specifying which product of which entity has obtained the certification.

- Certificate Number: A unique number, usually including the certifying body code, year, serial number, etc., for inquiry and traceability.

- Product Name: The accurate name of the certified product, such as "Ex Remote Controller", "Flameproof Solenoid Valve", etc.

- Product Model: The specific model of the certified product.

- Ex Mark: One of the core technical contents of the certificate, fully describing the product's Ex type, group, level, temperature class, etc. For example: Ex ia IIC T4 Ga.

  - Ex: Ex mark.

  - ia: Ex type (intrinsically safe type, ia level).

  - IIC: Gas Group (indicating applicability to environments with the most dangerous gases such as hydrogen and acetylene).

  - T4: Temperature Class (indicating the maximum surface temperature of the equipment ≤ 135°C).

  - Ga: Equipment Protection Level (EPL) (indicating applicability to Zone 0, Zone 1, and Zone 2 gas environments).

- Issue Date: The effective date of the certificate.

- Valid Until: The expiration date of the certificate (usually 5 years).

2. Enterprise and Standard Information

This part specifies who manufactures the product and in accordance with which standards the certification is conducted.

- Manufacturer Information: The name and address of the factory producing the product.

- Applicant Information: The name and address of the entity applying for the certificate (may be the same as the manufacturer, or an agent or parent company).

- Applicable Standards: Lists the numbers and names of national standards based on which Ex inspection and certification are conducted. For example:

  - GB/T 3836.4-2021 "Explosive Atmospheres - Part 4: Equipment Protected by Intrinsic Safety 'i'"

3. Technical Parameters and Restrictions

This part is the "user manual" of the certificate, specifying how to use the product safely.

Main Technical Parameters

- Rated Voltage: e.g., DC 3.6V.

- Rated Current: Or maximum operating current.

- Maximum Open-Circuit Voltage (Ui): Critical for intrinsically safe equipment.

- Maximum Short-Circuit Current (Ii): Critical for intrinsically safe equipment.

- Ingress Protection (IP) Rating: e.g., IP54.

Applicable External Conditions

- Ambient Temperature: e.g., -20°C ~ +40°C.

Associated Equipment or Special Operating Conditions

- If the product needs to be used with associated equipment such as safety barriers, it will be indicated here.

- Any special installation, operation, or maintenance requirements. For example: "The battery model must be XXX, and attention must be paid to XXX when replacing the battery."

- Product Marking: Specifies the content to be marked on the product nameplate, which is usually consistent with the certificate information.

4. Other Important Information

- Test Report Number: Refers to the detailed test report supporting the certificate.

- Certifying Body Information: The name, seal, and signature of the authoritative body issuing the certificate.

- Remarks/Additional Instructions: Other matters requiring supplementary explanation.
